Making Money On The Internet
Many people today are making money on the Internet and there are just as many people starting out on the same road trying to emulate them. This is commendable and good to see that the entrepreneurial spirit is still alive and kicking. Many are starting on a part time basis, simply using the spare time they have to improve their lives. Sometimes this enthusiasms can spill over to all the family, who then add their own individual strengths to the pot. As you may imagine, this could be the ideal scenario and could even be fun as well as a challenge.
If you to have been tempted to join in with the IM crowd then prepare yourself for a journey that has many hills and dales to negotiate. Contrary to much of the hyped up content being banded about, there is no “Push Button Method”, Magic Key” or “5 Mouse Clicks To A Million Dollars”. This is just common marketing lingo which is, yes certainly colorful, but should not be taken in the literal sense. This language is used in our daily commercial world and found in all the media forms. The point I make here is, be prepared for this over hype of product strengths and only buy what will be, of use to you, at that moment in time or in the close future.
First off, you will need to decide which route you wish to follow. For example, do you have a product you could sell online. Do you have enough knowledge on a topic/niche to create a product from this knowledge. Do you want to be an affiliate marketer and sell other peoples products for a percentage of the sale. Is there a service you could provide for others. What are your strengths and skills you have that others would need. Spend a bit of time in this process to find what you would like to do in order to start making money online.
So What Will We Need To Start Making Money On The Internet
1) An absolute must, if not initially, then certainly eventually is a Domain Name.
2) Make a website or a blog which is even easier and probably better in any case. If you cant do this, learn or get one made
3) A Hosting account to host your site.
Later you might want to add an auto responder to your armory when you start thinking about building a list of followers or customers.
The domain name as I mentioned is not a necessary requirement initially due to being able to use the numerous Web2.0 properties that are available to us. That being said, I would still concentrate on buying the domain as soon as you have chosen your money making niche or product. A good name that describes what you will sell/provide will help to brand you and stick in the mind of your customers.
There are pluses and minuses to using these Web 2 properties as an alternative to having your own website. Pluses are of course, if you don’t want to build a site/blog are, the speed and ease to get going with no cost to you and you could even use these Web 2.0 properties to test the strength of keywords and traffic etc. The cons are that you will never own these sites. Any content you add and this might turn out to be quite significant will never be yours, unless you strip it out and use it somewhere else. Nevertheless you will gain a lot of experience if all this stuff is new to you and go on to make you own site/blog.
If and when you do go on to build your own blog/site as I recommend you eventually do, you will need to get a hosting company to host your site. This can be had for about $10 a month or so for good hosting which is no big thing.
Your site should be loaded with your content. Good, original, informative material should be your goal here. There was a time when you would have been able to add non-unique content to your site and still have ranked very well in the search engines. Today these same search engines have become more and more selective as far as content is concerned. The argument still rages as to what unique content means to these search bots. Some will argue that duplicate content only applies to duplicate
content which is on the same site. But it would seem that today, the main search engines such as Google etc. want to give their users a good experience when using them. Freshly updated unique content would fit this bill, so as they say give the customer what they want.
As mentioned earlier, once you have your site up and running with your content built in, the next challenge is to get traffic to the site. There are many ways to drive traffic that will take quite a bit of effort from you, but will be worth you efforts just the same. The good thing is that if you have a lot of good content on your site, many people will bookmark the site and direct others that they know and interested in the information, to visit. Traffic will be a big factor in the success of your attempts at making money on the Internet and I will cover it in more detail in another page on this site.
Only when you start to see a fair amount of traffic to your site should you be thinking about having an autoresponder set up.
Every site especially a marketing site, or just any site that at the end of the day will have something to sell, should have an autoresponder. your autoresponder will cost you a monthly fee to run it, therefore there’s no point in paying this fee for
something that will be doing nothing for you due to lack of visitors. After all the point of having an autoresponder is to offer your visitors a free mini course, an ebook or something of value in return for their email details. This will in time become your list and some will say, worth more than your whole website put together, because you can offer this list good quality information that they are looking for.
If this all sounds like a lot of work, then your right, it does take work. As I stated in the beginning of this rant there are no magic bullets to success. This can only be gained with having something of value which will be of benefit to others, interested in that topic. Your website will take time to evolve into that “something of value” to both you and your visitors.
Believe it or not, but work can often also be fun especially if it is a fresh challenge and you start to see results from your work. Six months or so from starting out, you could be sitting back and watch a constant flow of visitors, have a growing list in your autoresponder and start making money on the Internet as you initially planned.
